Review from
Guitar Player Magazine
"Sergio was originally inspired by Steve Harris of Iron Maiden.
Working with a jazz-oriented composer, he studied sight reading, music
theory, harmony, and composition. Billy Sheehan and Jaco Pastorius became
important influences, especially Billy's "NV43345" solo with
Talas.
His style synthesizes rock, jazz, blues, funk, classical, and fusion,
while his two-handed technique is reminiscent of Billy Sheehan's. Sergio
is a tremendous asset."

Review from
Guitar World Magazine
"‘New Millennium Nemesis’ is an in-your-face recording
with very good sound and superb arrangements. The title track, a bass and
piano duo performed by Bach-master-performer Glen Kirchoff and Sergio
Mottura captures the mood of a true classical composition.
Sergio has a very large underground following and rarely gets featured in
main stream publications, but his talent and hard work are reflected on
his playing, teaching and compositions.”
Review from Musician's Exchange
Magazine
"Swirling sonic landscapes by a hard rock foursome, with some able assistance from
excellent studio musicians, makes this CD a pleasure to hear. Some of the cuts, such as
"Zealous Mind," are reminiscent of early 1970s pioneers Iron Butterfly and
Vanilla Fudge, but with updated rhythm phrasing and recording quality. The bass work on
this CD is particularly strong, thanks to Sergio Mottura's talents. The guitar on such
cuts as "It Doesn't Matter Anyway" is worth listening to as well. Overall, the
CD has an interesting mix of textures."

Player Magazine
"Sergio Mottura's Bass Pro Tips is packed with lots of tips and great
instruction. An excellent tool for bass players of all levels and
styles."
Review from
Guitar World Magazine
“Impressive. That’s the best way to describe the package
we got today from bass player Sergio Mottura and Bass Pro Tips. A collection
of 17 lessons and Sergio’s latest CD ‘New Millennium Nemesis.’ The
lessons cover every style and technique a bass player might ever play in
planet Hearth or in Mars. Their content is so extensive that you have to be
prepared to spend months learning all patterns, scales, chords and grooves."

Untamed bass
"We got our hands on some excellent material for bass players from the
States. Bass Pro Tips has tons of stuff for bass players and some good recordings for
musicians and music lovers, too. The feature items are the Bass Pro Tips Instructional
Books written by Sergio Mottura. One of our staff members (a bass player, of course)
ordered Lesson #3 Tapping Technique and Lesson #17 Latin Style and we were most impressed
about the didactic content and quality music of these lessons. Sergio Mottura can really
teach bass but what it's most surprising about these lessons is his amazing playing.
That's what makes these books and recordings very interesting. In most cases you get a
very good teacher who can play but who's not a virtuoso or vice versa. Sergio seems to
posses the ability to combine great playing and easy to follow instruction. Bass Pro Tips
is simply great 'down to hearth' bass instruction."

Review from
Guitar Magazine
“We got a hold of ‘The Multistyle Player’ from bass extraordinaire
Sergio Mottura. Does his army of students and followers overrate him? Not at
all! Every time we get one of these tapes we are very skeptical. Sergio’s
driving bass lines are outstanding, powerful and original. A brilliant
player all around.”
Review from
Bass Professor Magazine (Germany)
“Absolutely fabulous. Sergio Mottura’s command of bass
playing is something to be heard, studied and seen. He plays through styles
like a chameleon. Sergio is probably the most uncovered bass player in the
professional circle but without a doubt, he holds a unique sound and an
amazing technique.”

Bass Clinic at Le Monde Music
"All the way from New York, bass player Sergio Mottura brought to Paris
a great selection of music, humor and music knowledge. The clinic went very smooth and
people couldn't get enough of Sergio Mottura's music. His solos where packed with jazz and
classical runs, blazing speed and catchy rhythms. Sergio handled the audience in a
professional and courteous manner answering lots of questions. The clinic was originally
schedule to last 2 hours but Sergio Mottura wouldn't leave without answering every single
question. The result: the clinic lasted a total of 3 1/2 hours. The most unexpected part
of this event came at the end when Mr. Mottura picked up his piccolo bass and play a
beautiful arpeggio and melodious runs in a flamenco style. Everything was very well
planned and organized including sound, flyers, sample books and recordings and a
interpreter. We are looking forward to Sergio Mottura's next visit to France."
Review from
Discoid Magazine (Italy)
"As you all know we are a dance magazine. We cannot betrayed our roots. But,
there are always things worth to be mentioned. On my last visit to New York City I went to
a club in Greenwich Village and the band "Mental Symphony" was playing to a full
house. The music was not my cup of tea but the bass player of the band to whom I spoke
after the show was really something else. His name is Sergio Mottura and he seems to be
pretty well-known in the USA (and probably abroad, I don't know!). His ability to play
bass was quite an experience to hear and see. That's why I'm adding him to our
"What's Hot List." If you hear that Sergio Mottura is in town you should
definitely check him out."
